Birth Roots
I am one of four practicing placenta specialists here in South Wales, trained to IPEN’s high standard and affiliated with Placenta Remedies Network, the UK-based International network of placenta encapsulation experts dedicated to new parent health, well-being and support. I adhere to a clear and strict code of conduct and work closely with Environmental Health who have fully approved our food safety management stystem, which is a means of ensuring safety for both clients and specialists
I have a dedicated placenta preparation space, which has been inspected and approved by an environmental health officer and I have completed Level 2 Food Hygiene, HACCAP and Infection Control, including blood borne pathogens
Mother Nature is wise. Throughout history mammals have used their placenta as medicine, and women too have consumed theirs in some way, as part of their post-partum healing, passed down the generations as an important and valuable element of birthing wisdom
This is known as Placentophagy and dates as far back as 1578. Historically placentas are highly revered, symbolic of good fortune for both baby and parents and in many cultures this remains the case, with it either being kept, buried or consumed in some way following birth
However here, in the West, it has been standard practice for too long to view this third, and final, stage of labour as something that needs to be rushed through and managed, when often patience is all that is required to complete this scared element of the birthing process. This is most likely to happen, without concern or need for intervention, when favourable conditions are continued and respected:

When we recognise the placenta as the fascinating and life sustaining organ it is, we become open to the wonder of it, acknowledging too it's ability to heal
The most important nutrients found in rich supply in the placenta include:

~ Oxytocin hormone – essential for facilitating birth and breastfeeding.
~ Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) – responsible for reducing stress levels.
~ Cytokines – Fibroblasts that trigger cell metabolism healing and replacing damaged cells and tissue.
Placenta remedies have been reported by mothers to:

"I would highly recommend choosing Lisa to provide placenta encapsulation. A respectful, caring and supportive experience. The capsules have provided an uplift and there have been no signs of that dark cloud that I previously suffered postpartum"

I used Lisa for placenta encapsulation after the birth of my 3rd baby. Throughout the whole planning process, Lisa was really accommodating, professional and friendly and was always ready to answer any questions I had.
On the day of birth, we informed Lisa that our baby had been born and she came to collect the placenta that night. Her service was brilliant! I had my placenta capsules within 48 hours and started taking them on day 3 post-partum.
I was surprised by how quickly I felt like myself again! Despite suffering with anemia and mild post-partum hemorrhage, I was back to my regular daily activities by 8 days PP. A blood test also showed that my iron and hemoglobin levels had not only improved, but had returned to normal, pre-pregnancy levels within 14 days. I was back in the gym by 4 weeks and felt completely back to normal within 6 weeks.
I would definitely recommend placenta encapsulation and would recommend Lisa for this - she was brilliant throughout! Thank you so much!
