Welcome here, Birth Roots .. a space to gather in, connect, share, be informed, nourished and to consider and plan well for your pregnancy, birth and parenting journey
birth roots unfurled slowly, born out of my desire to offer support to women, birthing people and their families who felt they needed to complement their birth team with continuity of care. Imagine the same, trusted person journeying with you through pregnancy, at birth and into the tender post-partum period .. this is possible, you're in the right place Whether you're considering pregnancy, pregnant, a parent already or simply interested in all things birth, my hope is that birth roots will hold resonance, interest and a desire for you to explore further the power held in reclaiming your processes I completed my formal Doula training with Nurturing Birth in 2012, a Doula UK approved course. This added a name to something that was already present within me: the art of being with, gently responding to needs that arise and companioning, while honouring, protecting and respecting the birthing environment I offer my time and open-hearted space as you move through pregnancy and birth, confidently into Parenthood. This support extends to the Father, birth partner, siblings and wider family, knowing that by supporting them I am supporting you too Being listened to without time constraints, judgement or pressure, while considering your thoughts, feelings and decisions for birth, better invites balanced information to fully land around the choices you have. This will then help you to prepare for the birth you'd like, with sharp focus on a positive and grounded experience How a person feels during their birthing journey matters greatly. Birth stays with us and shapes our transition to becoming a Mother/Parent. As is the way with many things, if we nourish our roots they become stronger, while being able to bend and sway with the changing winds and paths before us. Birth shows us how the juxtaposition of not feeling a loss of control while surrendering to the process of birth can co-exist beautifully My training in Anatomy and Physiology enables me to have detailed understanding and insight into how our bodies work physiologically and prepared me well for my further learning in Reflexology, Massage and Aromatherapy. I may use these holistic modalities intuitively during my work, if this is invited in In 2015 I completed my training as a Placenta Remedy Specialist under IPEN, Europe's leading placenta remedies training programme and am also affiliated to Placenta Remedies Network, UK based International network of specialists. I hold certificates in Food Safety, HACCP and Infection Control and have consistently been awarded a 5* hygiene rating by my Local Authority. This work holds great honour and importance for me and has allowed me to more deeply connect with the passage of post partum recovery, the threads of placenta healing weaving back through history; deeply embedded in traditions and cultures around the world In 2019 I added to my skill set by undertaking KG Hypnobirthing training, which complements my Doula work wonderfully and also serves as a stand alone antenatal programme too. Clients benefit from my layered knowledge of the labour and birthing journey, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of antenatal preparation. KG is a complete course, enabling sound and comprehensive learning that an in-depth course provides I admin and hold my local Birth Circle group, formed in 2015, where we meet monthly (currently paused) which has an active, supportive and responsive facebook group too Birth is a major threshold, a deeply transformational journey, a time to tap into your birthing wisdom that is held within your bones and just waiting to be remembered "If you don't know your options you don't have any" A Good Birth, A Safe Birth (Diana Korte and Roberta Scaer) |
